Alias: Alan Aldridge

Powers:

Staff of Kings (Base) -

Using the Staff of Kings' base power, Alan can concentrate and create a sphere of containment to trap an opponent, though if they're fast or very strong they can break free.  Also, the staff is mystically unbreakable, allowing him to stab it into solid stone or strike incoming projectiles and return them to their owners.

Staff of Kings (Anouke) -

When Alan invokes the god Anouke with the Staff of Kings, he is able to call forth spirit arrows to attack his foes.

Staff of Kings (Haroeris) -

When Alan invokes the god Haroeris with the Staff of Kings, he can generate a brilliant white flash from the top of it, temporarily blinding and stunning his foes and any allies who look at it when it goes off.  Also while invoking this god, Alan is able to use the Staff of Kings as a light source.

Description:

Alan Aldridge appears to most as the typical stuffy professor.  His history in Egyptology is extensive and has afforded him modest wealth over the years, thus his wardrobe and other belongings tend to reflect that somewhat.   His usual attire consists of an expensive looking brown suit jacket and pants, only slightly darker than his brown eyes, with a white, silk, button up shirt and dark blue vest.   As for his physical appearance, he keeps his black hair cut short-ish and lightly styled so as to be easy to deal with, the same for his black goatee, and to finish it off he wears a pair of round thin framed glasses.

As Avatar, Alan removes his glasses and goatee, both of which are fake, and wears his hair a bit more loosely.   His “hero” attire consists mainly of a long dark crimson duster with gold hieroglyphics stitched along the edges as well as gold trim, dark brown pants, and a brown vest.

Background:

Alan Aldridge was born to two British archeologists living in Egypt.  The pair had already spent years there studying the ancient civilization and were not about to stop just because they had a baby.   As such, Alan grew up on dig sites and in tombs, always learning, always exploring, right alongside his parents.   Eventually, Alan knew most of the key areas of Egypt like the back of his hand, so when World War II hit and the British set up shop there, he was the perfect person to help them plan troop movements and the like.   This he did gladly, because while he didn’t really consider himself British, he had no love for the Nazi’s and their fascist regime.

During the war, Alan made himself invaluable to the British in Egypt  and in exchange for his efforts they allowed him a measure of freedom beyond that of a typical researcher with regards to customs inspections, ownership forms, and the like.   They even looked the other way when he stole a rare jewel from a Nazi museum, as the British didn’t consider the trinkets he needed for his studies as being of any great importance to the crown.

Near the end of the war, Alan vanished for several months and could not be found anywhere in Egypt, even his parents didn’t know where he went.   When he popped back up in Cairo, it was only long enough to pack his things and catch a plane to America, where he currently resides and works as a professor of Egyptology at Rathaus University in New Troy

Personality:

Alan is fairly mature, straightforward individual, someone who always keeps a cool head in dangerous situations and thinks things through rationally rather than taking rash action.   His peers in the Rathaus faculty have described him as friendly, and many female faculty members and students alike consider him charming.   Due to this and his polished good looks, his class is rarely short on female students signing up to learn whatever it is he teaches.

In His Own Words:

“Now, now, there’s really no sense in all this fighting..   But if you insist.”
